Home Child Care Providers Why Participate in QRIS

Why Participate in QRIS

Invest in children and yourself.

As an early learning and care provider, you can have a positive, lifelong impact on a child’s life. Research shows that children who attend high-quality, early childhood programs are happier, more confident, more successful, and better prepared for the future.

If you are committed to providing a quality early learning and care program, Quality Counts California (QCC) can help you.

QCC supports early learning and care environments that voluntarily commit to a continuous quality improvement process based on state and nationally recognized quality standards.

Find Financial Resources and Support

Whether you are a center-based teacher or director, family child care home owner, license-exempt provider, family, friend, or neighbor, you can take advantage of QCC’s resources and support for continuous improvement. This includes financial support like grants, awards, scholarships, and other financial supports.

…lots of schools send their teachers back again to school. They don’t have to pay money for tuition, they don’t have to pay money for books. … and if [teachers] are struggling with the language or their writing there is a person who can help them with doing their homework.

They gave me stipends to go back to school. … They paid for books. … After this semester I’ll be at a site supervisor level, and in a couple semesters I’ll graduate.

Demonstrate Your Commitment to Quality

QCC is a network of Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRISs) that provide support and ratings for early learning and care programs. Getting your program rated demonstrates to families you are committed to quality and their children’s futures.

Before, always, people thought we are babysitters … so now I can say I have a certificate, and a permit – I’m an accredited program.

Build Your Quality Child Care Program

Participating in QCC can also help you:

  • Increase positive child outcomes
  • Increase enrollment
  • Find ongoing professional development opportunities to improve your early learning and care skills and knowledge

I keep a full house here, and I’m proud of that, and I really think that it’s because of the support, and all of the knowledge and education, and all of the classes – I know that definitely made a difference.
