Overview
Whether you’re a child care provider, trainer, coach, home visitor, or educator in another setting, you can benefit from Quality Counts California’s (QCC) Family Engagement Toolkit.
The toolkit consists of five modules to continue your professional development on family engagement. Each module includes:
- Online interactive learning experiences (only available on CECO)
- Resources to extend learning (available on the QCC website and CECO)
All professional development learning modules, practice simulations, and resources to extend your learning are available in English and Spanish.
You can take the modules and units in any order; however, QCC recommends you begin with Module 1: The What, Why, and How of Family Engagement, and Module 2: Build Strengths-based Relationships.
Use Modules 1 and 2 to familiarize yourself with what family engagement is and the strategies for building relationships with families to be better prepared for Modules 3, 4, and 5.
Earn Professional Development Clock Hours Through California Early Childhood Online (CECO)
- Professional development clock hours and certificates are available for each module’s online interactive unit when completed through CECO, an online learning platform. Earn up to 15 Professional development clock hours for completing all 5 modules.
- An ECE Workforce Registry profile is not required to access online modules through CECO. However, a profile is recommended if you would like modules to be counted as professional development clock hours through the Registry. It is important that your first and last name, and registry identification number are the same in your CECO and the Registry accounts. Learn more about the benefits of the Registry.
- 1 Log in to CECO (or create a free account)
Enter your Workforce Registry ID on the registration page
- 2 Wait for the Registry to update your profile with units completed on CECO
- 1 Log in to CECO (or create a free account)
- Mix and match units within and across modules to customize your learning.
- Each unit lists the number of professional development clock hours provided.
- Leave and return to the unit at any time, and your work will be saved.
- A certificate of completion is awarded after each unit.
Extend Your Learning
Practice simulations and resources are available directly from the QCC website to extend your opportunities for learning. Note that professional development clock hours are not available for extended learning resources or simulations accessed outside of CECO.
Practice with Online Simulations
Are you ready to apply your knowledge and skills now, and practice using the family engagement tools and strategies? Click on the simulation links on each module page to interact with the simulation, experience real-life scenarios, and apply your knowledge.
- There are two digital versions of practice simulations: a simplified version and an enhanced version. Learn more about the available versions.
- For best viewing of the online interactive learning experiences, we recommend using the latest versions of Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
