Online Learning Modules for Trainers Who Work with California’s Early Childhood Workforce

How to Develop and Facilitate Effective Training is a series of seven online modules that provides a comprehensive overview of the qualities, knowledge, and skills of effective early childhood trainers. Participants can choose to access individual modules in any order, or complete the entire series. The series is available on California Early Childhood Online (CECO). The Modules

MODULE 1
Self-Awareness (1.5 hours)
In this module, you’ll learn about the connection between self-awareness and effective training. You’ll explore strategies to grow your self-awareness and avoid burnout.

Cultural Competence (1.5 hours)
This module explores how culture impacts training and provides strategies for creating equitable training opportunities.

MODULE 3
Continuing to Learn and Grow (1.5 hours)
This module delves into adult learning theory, the components of California’s Early Learning and Development System, technology used in training, and the benefits of continuous learning.

MODULE 4
Instructional Design and Evaluation (2 hours)
In this module, you’ll learn how to design engaging, equitable, and inclusive training. You’ll also learn how to develop meaningful learning outcomes, assessments, and training evaluations.

MODULE 5
Practices That Pave the Way for Learning (1.5 hours)
This module includes practices for presenting a professional image, building rapport, and motivating participants. It also includes a lesson on effective communication skills.

MODULE 6
Practices for Enhancing Content Delivery (2 hours)
In this module, you’ll learn about facilitation practices that support learning retention and transfer. The module provides strategies for facilitating both online and in-person training.

Navigating Training Challenges (2 hours)
This module will prepare you for dealing with unexpected situations that may occur during training. It also includes accessibility strategies and an overview of Universal Design for Learning.
