In this module, you will learn why it is important to take a shared approach to family engagement and how to incorporate strategies for building relationships with providers.

Module Outline

  • Unit 1: Take a Shared Approach to Family Engagement
    This interactive online learning experience provides a content-rich overview of what it means to take a shared approach to family engagement, why it matters, and the strategies for building relationships with providers. Estimated time to complete: 0.5 professional development clock hour.
  • Unit 2: Strategies for Building Relationships with Providers
    This interactive online learning experience provides learners an opportunity to analyze how the strategies Use a Strengths-based Approach and Take Informed Action are used to build strengths-based relationships with supervisors, coaches, co-workers, higher education faculty, teachers, home visitors, and family child care providers. Estimated time to complete: 1 professional development clock hour.
  • Unit 3: Listen Actively
    This interactive online learning experience provides an orientation to active listening—including being present, paraphrasing, open and closed questions, and declarative statements. Estimated time to complete: 1 professional development clock hour.
  • Unit 4: Practice: Take a Shared Approach
    In this interactive simulation, learners take on the role of coach or supervisor and practice applying the Strengths-based Attitudes and Relationship-based Practices for providers. Estimated time to complete: 0.5 professional development clock hour.
  • Unit 5: Practice: Starting with Strengths
    In this interactive simulation, a supervisor engages in a conversation that reflects on the staff’s engagement with a family. Estimated time to complete: 1 professional development clock hour.
