The California Department of Social Services, in partnership with WestEd, is excited to share the launch of a new free interactive resource: the California Early Learning and Development website.
This online resource was created to support these groups:
- early learning and care educators who work with young children (birth to 36 months) in various early care settings across California
- families and caregivers of young children (birth to 36 months) by offering information and videos that show how children grow, learn, and develop in the early years
These resources are also useful for other early learning and care professionals, including those who lead professional development, teach early childhood courses, and lead early learning and care settings.
The California Early Learning and Development website was developed with input from a broad range of early learning and care educators and families and has been aligned with the California Infant–Toddler Learning and Development Foundations, published in 2025, which highlight important skills and concepts in how young children develop, play, and learn.
The site offers free access to videos highlighting developmental knowledge and skills (foundations) and a framework to strengthen care and educational practices and support children’s early development.
On the website you will find the following:
- interactive California Infant–Toddler Learning and Development Foundations
- videos that show the Infant–Toddler Learning and Development Foundations
- the Framework for Infant–Toddler Learning and Development
- links to frequently accessed related websites
- family resources
